Alfonzo is a Junior Fellow from South Side High School. As an involved and passionate soccer player, he brings a lot of energy and drive to both the field and the classroom. His academic focus is on Math, Language Arts, Physical Education, and Sports, while his future ambitions include becoming a surgeon, professional soccer player and leading a balanced fulfilling life.. Since starting soccer, playing professionally has been a lifelong dream.

The most inspiring people in Alfonzo’s  life are his parents. His mother inspires him with her unwavering support, and his father for his hard work, which he deeply values. Alfonzo’s soccer coach has been an influential mentor, recognizing Alfonzo’s potential even before he did. This coach helped foster his love for soccer, making it a lifelong passion, and continually pushes them to excel both athletically and academically.

Describing himself as empathetic, optimistic, and positive, he believes his superpowers include the ability to handle challenges with a positive attitude and a relentless drive to improve in whatever he does. 

In terms of community strengths, Alfonzo always strives to help others, whether by giving back or simply brightening someone’s day. However, he sees challenges in the community for those trying to live healthy and productive lives, particularly when it comes to overcoming past mistakes and securing good jobs. 

The Jackson community's strength, in Alfonozo’s view, lies in its ability to come together during times of need. However, he feels that mental health issues are often overlooked and could benefit from more attention. As a behind-the-scenes coordinator, idea creator, and team member with specific tasks, he is ready to contribute to making his community even stronger.
